Do you like walnuts? Do you prefer to buy whole ones and peel them yourself?

Then don't throw away the shells under any circumstances! After all, this is an incredibly effective garden remedy!

It turns out that the hard shell of nuts can be used as fertilizer, mulch, and drainage material.

Walnut shells as fertilizer

First, the hard nut shell must be burned in compliance with all safety regulations.

The result is ash, which is a source of potassium, phosphorus, calcium and other components important for plants.

You can simply sprinkle the beds with this powder.

But it is better to pour plain water over the ashes: 3 tablespoons of unburned shell remains per liter of liquid. The resulting solution should be used to water the soil under garden crops.

As a result, the chances of getting a rich harvest will increase significantly.

Walnut shells as mulch

The hard shell of walnuts makes a good mulch material.

This mass can be used to cover the soil under young seedlings and perennial flowers.

As a result, the soil will always remain sufficiently moist.

In addition, the plants will be protected from adverse winter weather conditions.

Walnut shells as drainage

The shells can also be used when planting trees and shrubs.

Simply pour the mass left over from cleaning the nuts into the hole. This will prevent the problem of excess water accumulation.

For reference

The fruit of the walnut is the nut of any tree of the genus Juglans of the family Juglandaceae, including the Persian or walnut (Juglans regia).
