Juicy pumpkin pulp can delight us with its taste until the onset of spring, and sometimes even longer.

The main thing is to properly prepare the fruits for storage. Then they will definitely last as long as you need them to.

Preparing pumpkin for storage

First of all, it is worth remembering that there is no need to wash the pumpkin before storing it, otherwise you will damage the protective layer.

Dirt and debris stuck to the surface can be easily removed with a cloth.

For the first two weeks, leave the fruits on a glazed balcony, veranda, attic, etc., that is, in a place where it is warm and sunny. For some fruits, this period can be extended to a month - if we are talking about not fully ripe pumpkins that had to be removed due to a drop in temperature.

This time will be enough for the skin to harden and the scratches to heal.

It is advisable to treat the damage with a 2% solution of potassium permanganate or an alcohol solution of brilliant green to dry the wounds and protect the fruit pulp from the penetration of pathogens and rotting.

For reference

Pumpkin is a genus of herbaceous plants of the Pumpkin family (Cucurbitaceae).
