Seemingly harmless ants can become a real problem for a summer resident.
As the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh explains, these insects damage berries and plantings, affect the acidity of the soil, spread weeds and are even capable of destroying a young tree if they settle in its roots.
But the most important thing is that the ants “cooperate” with the aphids.
Therefore, if you find an anthill in your garden or vegetable patch, you should take care to eliminate it.
If you are the “owner” of an anthill with an above-ground part, stock up on large plastic bags, a shovel and tape.
Using a shovel, collect the above-ground part of the anthill in one of the bags and immediately seal its neck with tape.
The underground part should be placed in another bag - to the depth of one shovel immersion. It should also be sealed on top with adhesive tape.
In the forest you need to dig a hole of the same depth as on your site.
Pour the contents of the bags into it: first the underground part of the anthill, and then the above-ground part. Do not level or give the anthill its original shape, since its inhabitants are capable of arranging their new home themselves.
It is best to relocate ants in the morning or evening, when most individuals are at home.
