All summer residents who advocate the use of natural fertilizers try to make compost.

This process is not quick and easy, but the result is worth it.

Typically, compost can take one to two years to mature. However, fertilizer can mature earlier or later.

How do you know that the compost is definitely ready?

First of all, it is worth visually assessing the appearance of the compost. If you no longer see any plant residues or other components, then the compost is most likely ready.

When decomposed, the components begin to look homogeneous.

It is important to remember that the appearance of the finished compost is very similar to black soil. Therefore, visual assessment is extremely important.

The color of the finished compost becomes brown. The unpleasant smell disappears, which is also worth paying attention to. The aroma of the finished compost is more similar to the smell we encounter in the forest.

It is also worth remembering that it is not recommended to rush into using compost. The longer you wait, the better the quality of the compost becomes.
