You need to start contributing to the future harvest in the fall.
Unfortunately, many gardeners forget about this, as a result of which they get too few fruits.
But if you “support” the plants before the onset of the frosty period, then the chances of a bountiful harvest in the next summer cottage season will be quite good.
This also applies to strawberry bushes. If a gardener sprinkles the soil under the plant with something in the fall, then the plant will most likely not encounter any negative processes in the winter, spring and summer.
The bush will produce a huge amount of fruits - tasty and sweet. The gardener will certainly be pleased.
But what is this life-saving autumn remedy that guarantees a bountiful strawberry harvest next season?
The answer is simple: this area needs to be covered with some kind of natural mulch material.
The most suitable options are: straw, pine needles, fallen leaves.
Any of these materials will help to insulate the bushes and protect the root system throughout the winter period.
In addition, the soil will retain sufficient moisture.
And over time, the mulch will decompose. This process will help increase the fertility of the soil cover.
The thickness of the mulch layer should be approximately 10 centimeters.
Important: do not place the selected material too close to the plant stem. Otherwise, unpleasant consequences may occur (rotting, lack of ventilation).
