The harvest of winter garlic depends on the soil, preparation of seed material for planting, but also on wintering.
And in order for the garlic to take root, survive the winter without losses and produce friendly shoots in the spring, you need to add something to the holes when planting.
This is how experienced gardeners plant winter garlic.
Fans of organic farming can use wood ash.
It saturates the soil with essential potassium, improves the soil structure, and protects the plant from diseases.
In this case, the consumption is 100-150 g of ash per 1 sq. m of bed.
Phosphorus fertilizers are required for the development of the root system. When planting winter garlic, summer residents are recommended to use superphosphate (20-30 g per 1 square meter of soil).
To get a rich harvest, you need to add potassium sulfate - the heads will grow large (15-20 g per 1 sq. m.).
It is also important to protect the bed from frost. It is best to use a mixture of peat and humus (compost) for this.
The beds are covered with mulch in a layer of up to 2-3 cm, which will not only protect from frost, but also serve as a source of additional nutrition.
