The timing of planting tulips in October depends on the region and weather conditions. In general, it is best to plant tulips in mid- to late October, when the soil temperature at a depth of 10-15 cm is 8-10 degrees Celsius.
If you plant the bulbs too early, they may sprout and freeze. If you plant them too late, they may not take root.
How to Select and Prepare Tulip Bulbs
For planting, you need to choose only healthy and high-quality tulip bulbs. They should be large, dense, without damage or signs of disease.
It is best to buy bulbs in specialized stores or nurseries, where you can find out the variety and origin of the bulbs.
Before planting, the bulbs need to be treated against pests and diseases. For this, you can use a solution of potassium permanganate, fungicide or garlic infusion.

To plant tulips, you need to choose a sunny and wind-protected place with loose and fertile soil.
On heavy soils, add sand or humus to improve structure and drainage. Tulips can be planted in one place no more than once every 3-4 years.
Planting holes for bulbs should be made to a depth equal to three times the diameter of the bulb. A layer of sand or ash should be poured onto the bottom of the hole to prevent rotting.
The bulbs should be planted with the pointed end up at a distance of 10-15 cm from each other. Then you need to fill the holes with soil and water them.
