Despite the fact that currants are considered to be an almost mandatory crop to plant in a summer cottage, some people have not yet learned how to care for them.
It happens that gardeners do not pay attention to the fact that the plant's leaves are curled or otherwise deformed.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, explained what this is connected with and how to solve the problem.
1. You need to inspect the bush for aphids. Often the pest settles on young shoots at the top of the bush.
Aphids feed on plant sap, causing the leaves to become deformed, dry out and fall off.
2. Another pest that can attack currants is the spider mite and bud mite.
Other signs include curling leaves and disruption of the bush's development.
3. In addition to pests, currants can be affected by diseases such as mosaic and leaf dwarfism.
4. The next point is drought, temperature changes, drafts and cold wind.
Periodic inspection of the bush will help to detect signs of pests or disease development in time.
To combat insects, it is better to use insecticides and acaricides, and against diseases, fungicides.
Among other things, it is necessary to follow the watering regime and provide the plant with suitable conditions for growth and development, and prune and fertilize the bushes in a timely manner.
