In August, a summer resident growing tomatoes must “help” the plant.

There is one simple, but incredibly important procedure that needs to be completed.

So, the garden crop needs to be freed from unnecessary parts.

If the owner of a country plot does not do this in time, he may lose the entire harvest.

An expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh reminds: in the final third of summer, you need to remove some of the lower leaves on tomato bushes.

How to Properly “Help” Tomatoes in August

You need to carefully examine the lower part of the plant.

Noticed yellowed leaf blades? Pick them off immediately!

Do the same with the leaves that touch the soil.

The above procedure is a guarantee of improved air exchange within the garden crop.

In addition, neighboring flora will not be shaded as much.

Things to remember when removing leaves

Important: do not pick too many leaf blades from the plant at one time. The daily "norm" is no more than three.

It is important to remember that leaves play an important role in plant nutrition. If there is a lack of greenery, tomatoes will have approximately the same problems as if there is too much.

It is desirable that at least two leaves remain above each fruit.
