Any crop needs moisture in a dry summer, even potatoes, which are usually watered less often than all other plantings in the garden.

In mid-summer, when potatoes begin to bloom, you need to have a clear idea of when you can water the potatoes and when you can’t.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, told how to water potatoes.

During flowering

Water the flowering potato generously if it is a dry season. In this case, the water consumption is 3 liters per bush.

If the soil at a depth of 5-6 cm is wet, then watering can harm the crop.

The next day, you need to loosen the soil and cover it with mulch - hay or straw.

Repeat watering after 14 days.

After flowering

After the potatoes have finished flowering, they are not watered or fed.

Humidity and dampness can cause the development of late blight.

Also, at this time, chemicals for pest control are not used.
