Tomatoes are used to collect seeds from 2-3 stem clusters.
In appearance they must be correct, according to variety, shape, taste, color, size, without damage, defects and spots.
The selected tomato should ripen well on the bush, and to prevent anyone from picking it, the tomato is tied with a colored ribbon, but a very overripe tomato can sprout in the middle.
Materials for collecting tomato seeds:
• glass;
• small strainer;
• foam sponge;
• a piece of paper;
• teaspoon;
• a small, sharp knife.
Cut the tomato into 4 pieces, remove all the seeds and place in a glass.
You can leave the glass with seeds for 2-3 days to ferment, and then simply rinse them with clean water and air dry until they become loose.
But you don’t have to ferment the seeds, the main thing is not to add a drop of water to them.
After you remove the seeds from the tomato, place them in a small sieve and rinse under running water.
Mix the seeds with a spoon and rinse well to remove any mucus, place the seeds on a foam sponge and spread them over it with a knife.
Do this several times until all the slime remains on the foam.
At the same time, select defective and small seeds.
Transfer quality seeds to paper for further drying.
The seeds are dried for a week in the shade.
Next, they are packaged in paper bags or envelopes indicating the date of collection and the name of the variety.
