In hot weather, summer residents think that the most important thing is to water the garden on schedule in the morning or evening.

In fact, there are a few more subtleties and in addition to proper watering, you also need to monitor the soil, as well as the condition of the plants. It would also be useful to remember what to do if the plantings have suffered from the heat.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication BelNovosti, a scientist, agronomist and landscape designer, told how to save garden beds from the heat.

Firstly, if the air temperature has reached +30 or higher, you need to water the beds early in the morning, at dawn, or after about 19:00, when the heat has already begun to subside.

Secondly, the next day after watering, the soil in the beds needs to be loosened, since the resulting crust will prevent oxygen from reaching the roots.

Thirdly, if the plants have already suffered from high temperatures, do not rush to despair.

This can happen if summer residents start watering the beds during the day, when the sun is still high.

In this case, the leaves will not just wither, but turn yellow or dry out.

It is necessary to trim off wilted leaves.

Then loosen the soil in the bed and apply foliar feeding using urea (one tablespoon of urea per 10 liters of water).

Just don't carry out the treatment during the hot midday hours.
