This may surprise many summer residents, but certain materials placed under raspberry bushes can significantly increase the plant’s yield.
We are talking about hay or straw.
Alternative options: tree bark, sawdust, compost, pulled out weeds (which do not pose any danger to the main garden crop).
All of the above materials can act as mulch.
Mulch is of great importance for fruit bushes.
Firstly, such a layer will protect the plant from weeds.
Secondly, the mulching material will have a positive effect on the soil condition: it will remain sufficiently moist. In addition, the appropriate temperature will be maintained.
Thirdly, mulch will improve the condition of the plant roots.
The desired thickness of the mulch layer is approximately 7 centimeters.
Thanks to such protection, the raspberry will demonstrate good fruiting: there will be a lot of berries.
Earlier, summer residents were told how to prepare compost in just a couple of months.
