Perhaps the most reliable way to combat the Colorado potato beetle in potato beds is to collect them by hand.
However, unfortunately, this method cannot be called easy - the tedious procedure must be carried out daily, and it is only suitable for small potato "plantations".
For this reason, it is definitely worth trying other methods of pest control, namely spraying with solutions prepared from plants.
To create an insecticide from sunflower, you will need 500 g of the plant's flowers and 10 liters of water. The composition should be infused for three days.
Fill the container with fresh celandine, pour water over it and put it on the fire so that the mixture boils for about 20 minutes. When the mixture cools down, dilute it with water, using 10 liters of liquid per 0.5 liters of the resulting concentrate.
To get rid of the Colorado potato beetle, you will need to dilute dry ground hot pepper in boiling water, and then boil the solution for two hours. After cooling, the preparation must be filtered and mixed with 40 g of grated laundry soap.
Some summer residents use a composition prepared from a glass of ash, 300 g of finely chopped wormwood and 10 liters of boiled water. The solution must be infused for 3-4 hours, and filtered before use.
And another proven folk remedy: take chopped tomato side shoots and leaves and pour 10 liters of water over them. Before use, the mixture should sit for 5-6 hours. Don't forget to add 4 tablespoons of liquid soap after straining.
