Mistakes made when applying fertilizers can reduce the quality of the future potato harvest.
It is unlikely that any summer resident will be satisfied if the tubers they collect are small in size and lack a bright taste.
But such an outcome is quite likely if you overdo it with nitrogen fertilizers and “organic matter”.
Yes, such fertilizers are necessary for the popular garden crop. But it is important to observe the measure.
Important recommendations were shared by the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .
Without nitrogen, the tubers will not be large and starchy.
But as soon as the content of this microelement in the soil in the potato bed becomes higher than the norm, the tops will begin to grow too quickly.
The result will be the formation of small tubers. The vegetables will probably be watery.
Therefore, do not apply too much nitrogen fertilizer (the norm is 6 grams per square meter). Also, do not forget about potassium and phosphorus.
When applied in moderation, organic fertilizers have a positive effect on garden crops: tubers are formed to be full-fledged and sufficiently starchy.
But if you overdo it with “organic matter”, then the starch content, on the contrary, will become very low.
Apply no more than five kilograms of organic fertilizer per square meter.
Earlier, a “minor” mistake was named that could deprive a summer resident of his entire tomato harvest.
