Despite its tiny size, the weevil, like the Tatar-Mongol yoke, is capable of causing colossal damage to the strawberry plantation planted on your site.
An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh told how to protect strawberry beds from the barbarian.
The method described below does not involve the use of chemicals, which means it can be used even during periods when strawberries are flowering or bearing fruit.
The fight against the pest will become much easier if you remember that the aroma of onions and garlic usually effectively repels weevils from strawberries.
It is for this reason that experienced gardeners often plant berries, bulbs or garlic cloves between the bushes.
However, it is impossible to plant them over the entire area to completely get rid of insects – in this case, spraying will come to the rescue.
To prepare the infusion, you will need the following ingredients: 10 g garlic, 50 ml pine extract and 2 g boric acid.
Grind the garlic or crush it with a press, pour a liter of water and leave in a dark, cool place for three days to infuse. Then strain the mixture, add pine extract and boric acid. Note that boric acid dissolves only in boiling water, so it must be diluted in advance.
All that remains is to thoroughly mix all the ingredients in garlic water, and the spray preparation is ready.
