Did you know that a willow can be turned into a real work of art – a spectacular wicker tree in the shape of a palm tree.
An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh shared instructions that will help you make a wicker willow tree with your own hands.
To grow such a palm tree on your site, prepare willow cuttings of the same length and thickness. You will need about 42 shoots per tree.
First, germinate them by placing them in water for 5 days and monitoring the growth of the roots. They should not be more than 1 millimeter in length, otherwise they will break when planting.
Take a 10-liter bucket and fill it with soil and humus. Stick the cuttings around the entire perimeter, having previously refreshed the cuts of the willow shoots.
Now you can start intertwining the branches in groups of 3. For convenience, rotate the container with soil while weaving the palm tree.
Secure each decorated layer with ropes or clothespins. Once finished, weave the top of the tree with a thin willow shoot.
In order for the "palm" to take root and take root, do not forget to arrange water procedures for it. Soon you will see buds and leaves - they need to be removed from the trunk.
It is best to weave such a palm tree in the spring or early summer, so that the tree's roots have time to strengthen before the frost.
