Over the past few decades, scientists and agricultural workers have developed and implemented many new technologies to increase crop yields and improve the quality of products.

One of such innovations, as the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh said, is plasma treatment of seeds.

Many may be surprised because plasma is usually associated with high temperatures, but in the case of plasma seed treatment, air is used.

This is a Russian innovation, the technology of which was developed and tested in the 1990s in St. Petersburg.

The seeds are treated in a cold plasma discharge.

This treatment stimulates vital processes within the seed material without causing any harmful effects, as it does not involve the use of any chemicals or genetic modifications.

Thanks to the technology, seed germination increases and germination accelerates. As a result, the plants are stronger, with a well-developed root system.

Plasma treatment promotes the accumulation of useful substances such as sugars, proteins, starch, organic acids and vitamins.

In addition, the treatment has a fungicidal and bactericidal effect, which allows for the effective destruction of mold fungi.

Earlier, the expert told which plants prevent weeds from growing.
