Many summer residents prefer to use wood ash to feed their garden crops, because it contains almost all the nutrients necessary for plants.

An expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh tells us which plants like this fertilizer.

What crops like ash?

It is recommended to add ash when preparing beds for root crops, cabbage, cucumbers, onions, tomatoes, spinach, dill, lettuce (up to 300 grams per square meter of soil).

When planting bell peppers, tomatoes, eggplants, cucumbers, squash and zucchini, you can add ash directly into the hole (1-2 tablespoons).

During the growing season and fruit ripening, liquid fertilizers based on ash are effective.

Dissolve 100-150 grams of ash in 10 liters of water, water once every two weeks (half a liter of solution per plant).

When using ash, it is important to remember that it alkalizes the soil and is not compatible with nitrogen fertilizers and superphosphate.
