Onions are a unique plant in that they can be planted both in autumn and spring.

It's April now. That means it's time to plant green onions.

Why exactly during this period? Because if later, there is a risk of not getting a really good harvest.

It is also important to know which plants should not be planted with onions, so as not to be left without a harvest of either the onion or the neighboring plant.

An expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh spoke about representatives of flora that are undesirable in this regard.

The expert first of all recalls garlic, noting that with such a neighborhood, only one of these two plants will produce a harvest, but not at the same time.

The agricultural scientist cites the extremely serious competition between crops for nutrients and water as the reason for this.

It is also not recommended to plant beans, asparagus and sage next to onions - the former will interfere with their growth, therefore their yield will be lower.

Earlier, the lunar calendar for gardeners and horticulturists told what and when is best to plant during the week from April 8 to 14.
