Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, told how to protect a vegetable garden from flooding and soil devastation.
Advice for summer residents
1. Beds, flower beds, and greenhouses are made high or raised.
2. You can keep the soil from eroding using curb tape, wattle fences, and other decorative fences, including those made of natural stone.
3. Along the edge of the flowerbed, you can plant creeping plants such as periwinkle, loosestrife, sedum, etc.
What to do with trees
Preference should be given to trees that are resistant to flooding.
Among the ornamental trees, even high groundwater levels can be easily tolerated by the river maple and box elder, all willows, ash, birch, and among the conifers, spruce, fir, and alder.

As for fruit trees, in such a situation you can plant sea buckthorn and hawthorn.
Apple trees are planted on dwarf rootstock, and pear trees on quince rootstock. Plum, cherry, cherry plum and walnut are also planted.
