What are the most common causes?
Poor quality water
If you use regular tap water for watering, this is a big mistake. It needs to at least settle for a few hours.
At the bottom of the container you will notice sediment. It is this sediment that "colors" the soil in a white shade.
Fertilizers
If you bought already prepared soil, then it contains mineral additives. If you also start adding fertilizers, then the excess will appear on the surface in the form of a coating.
Watering
You shouldn't "flood" the plants, but you shouldn't test their strength with rare watering either. The appearance of a white coating in this case will be just one of the manifestations of a whole range of negative consequences.
