What air temperature is considered ideal for vegetable seedlings: an important point everyone should know

In an effort to create comfortable conditions for the growth and development of vegetable seedlings, summer residents often harm themselves.

At this stage, everything that the harvest depends on is laid down, so in addition to the feeding and watering regime, you also need to monitor the air temperature.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, told what air temperature is considered ideal for vegetable seedlings.

Why is this so important?

As is known, if this condition is not met and due to other errors (for example, lack of light), plants may begin to stretch.

As a result, the seedlings will grow frail and weak, which will complicate transportation and transplantation. They will not give a good harvest.

Ideal temperature

First, you need to understand that there are cold-resistant plants (they grow normally in conditions of 13-15 degrees Celsius).

Cabbage should be included here first of all.

There are also those who need moderate heat. For them, 16-18 in the sun or 14-16 on a cloudy day are considered comfortable.

And the third group is heat-loving plants. These are tomatoes and eggplants, peppers, pumpkins, beans.

It is desirable that in this case the air temperature does not fall below +18. On a clear day they will be comfortable at 20-24 degrees Celsius, and on a cloudy day at 18-22 degrees Celsius.

An important point

It is also important to remember that during the first week the air temperature in the place where the seedlings are growing should be around 17-18 degrees Celsius.

In the following weeks, the temperature is increased.

It is important that the soil warms up to at least +14.

Previously we talked about how to get rid of mold in containers with seedlings.
