Strawberries are a favorite garden berry of many. Sweet and juicy fruits are loved by adults and children.
The fruits can be served as a separate snack, and they can also be used when preparing homemade preserves and desserts.
If you want to get ripe and tasty fruits from your own garden as early as possible, then you should start planting strawberries for seedlings already in February.
But in order for the plants to be strong and healthy, you should remember some rules.
Online publication expert Anastasia Kovrizhnykh provided more details.
For sowing strawberries, wide but shallow containers about 5 cm high are suitable.
It is also necessary to make drainage holes in them.
It is advisable to choose soil for growing vegetable or flower seedlings.
In pots, the soil should be compacted and well moistened.
There is no need to rush. As soon as the soil is ready and has absorbed all the liquid after watering, you can start sowing the seeds. They should be laid out on top at a distance of 4-5 cm from each other.
There is no need to bury them deep. It is enough to press them lightly into the soil.
The pots with seeds should be placed in a place with good lighting. The air temperature should be about 25 degrees.
The containers should be covered with cling film, but at the same time you need to make several ventilation holes.
Don't forget about artificial lighting. You should illuminate the seedlings for about 10-12 hours a day.
As soon as the first sprouts appear, you can refuse additional shelter, and it is advisable to put the container in a cooler place (about 20 degrees Celsius). It is advisable to continue using the backlight.
