Some plants in the garden may contain toxins, but this does not mean that you need to start hunting them down by cutting them down to the roots.

It is enough to follow basic rules of caution and not eat flowers or berries whose properties you do not know.

In fact, most of the plants that grow in your garden are poisonous.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication Belnovosti and an agronomist, will give several examples.

Which plants contain toxins?

Here are a couple of options.

  1. Spring Adonis. Contains toxins that, when ingested, cause cramps and gastrointestinal upset.
  2. Aquilegia. This flower contains poison, but it is only dangerous if you pick the flower and eat it.
  3. Aconite. This beautiful plant is completely poisonous – it is not for nothing that it is also called wolf's bane.
  4. Colchicum. This plant can decorate the garden in autumn, but the flower itself is highly toxic.
  5. Euonymus: Another lovely autumn flower, but never eat the berries.
