Wrap
The final third of the calendar winter is the period when the risk of frost cracks on woody plants is very high.
The reason is the temperature fluctuations that are often observed in February.
Wrapping the trunk with white material is a guarantee that the differences will be less sharp. This means that cracks will be less dangerous.
Whitewash
In the third month of winter, it makes sense to whitewash the trunks of those trees that were not properly protected in the autumn.
However, the procedure can only be carried out during a thaw. The air temperature should be at least three degrees above zero.
Prevent icing
February temperature fluctuations often result in the formation of an icy crust on tree branches. This process has a negative impact on plants.
Sprinkling the plant with soil or unburned wood debris helps prevent the problem described above.
