5 plants that should not be fed with ash: many gardeners make a mistake

Ash is considered a universal fertilizer that is suitable for almost all crops.

Yes, in many cases, unburned wood residues actually improve the condition of the soil cover and become a source of useful compounds for plants.

And yet, sometimes a popular fertilizer can turn into an “enemy” for the soil and flora.

An expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh listed plants that cannot be fed with unburned wood residues, although for some reason many summer residents do this.

What plants should not be fed with ash

Ash deacidifies the soil. In other words, this powder makes the soil pH higher.

This is why this fertilizer is completely unsuitable for plants that show good growth in acidic soil.

These flora representatives include the following:

  • blueberry;
  • radish;
  • sorrel;
  • spinach;
  • hydrangeas.
