Seeds of cultivated plants have a shelf life, after which they lose their germination capacity.

Problems with seed germination often arise due to violation of storage conditions. But experts assure that the situation can be partially or completely corrected.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, told how to achieve maximum seed germination.

Trick number one: compost infusion

You need 2 liters of melt water, 10-15 ml of sweetener (jam), and 80 g of rotted compost.

The ingredients are mixed, left to steep for several hours, and then the seeds are kept in this liquid for 24 hours.

Trick two: stratification

A distinction is made between cold and warm stratification.

In the first case, the seeds are placed in a refrigerator, damp soil or snow and allowed to warm up before planting.

In the second case, the seeds are kept on the radiator in a damp sponge. You can first immerse them in hot water, then in cool water, and then dry them.

Trick three: mushroom infusion

Do not drain the water in which you soaked the dried mushrooms – soak the seeds in it.

You can use potato juice with the same success (6-8 grated tubers are squeezed out and the juice is diluted with water to 200 ml).

A honey solution (1 tbsp. per glass of water) or an aqueous solution of aloe juice (1:1) will also work.

These tricks allow you to wake up the seeds and at the same time speed up the emergence of seedlings.

Earlier we talked about an unusual way of planting peppers.
