If you've ever tried using compost as a fertilizer, you'll hardly want to give it up.

This fertilizer is incredibly effective and does not require any additional costs to produce.

However, it is important to know that not all waste is equally good for compost, notes Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication BelNovosti, a landscape designer and agronomist.

What prohibitions should you remember?

Pet waste

It is not worth adding this type of waste to compost. The quality of the compost will decrease, and the fertilizer itself may become dangerous due to the appearance of potential parasites in it.

Weeds

Of course, plant residues and weeds themselves can be introduced, but only young specimens are suitable. If weeds have already begun to produce seeds, then introducing them into the compost is simply dangerous.

Some types of paper

Only clean paper can be used. If we are talking about printed periodicals, then it is not worth composting them. There is always a chance that the paint will be toxic.

Citrus

Citrus scraps can be useful in small quantities, but keep to a small amount.

Bone remains

Many people know that bones from fish or meat can be useful fertilizer. However, it is worth understanding that it will take too much time for them to decompose.

Previously, we talked about the disadvantages of chicken manure as a fertilizer .
