Not just walnuts: what other nuts can any summer resident grow

In recent years, more and more people have become interested in growing exotic plants and trees in their gardens. One of these unusual plants is various types of nuts.
An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh listed some unusual types of nuts that are suitable for growing in the middle zone, and also gave recommendations on how to care for them.
Hazelnut
Hazelnut is a very nutritious and valuable nut. Although not all seedlings can inherit the varietal characteristics of their parents, they will certainly be more adapted to the climatic conditions of a given area.
Those that survive cold winters can vary considerably in yield, nut shape, and growth rate.
Peanut
Peanuts are planted in the same way as beans, as soon as spring frosts have passed. Seedlings appear by the end of June. When the plants begin to bloom, they are hilled.
Caring for peanuts is similar to caring for regular potatoes. Due to the less than favorable conditions for growing peanuts in the middle zone, you will not be able to get a large harvest, but you can be sure that the efforts made will not be in vain.
Chufa (ground almond, peanut)
To grow chufa, you first need to soak the tubers in water for three days and then plant them in the ground, as they will not germinate dry. When the plant sprouts, it will look like a sedge.
By autumn it will turn into a bush that will bear many nuts, although their collection can be tedious, as they are quite small, usually no more than a centimeter. However, now there are varieties with large chufa fruits, reaching up to 5 cm in size.
