Every summer resident dreams of strong and vigorous seedlings, especially of such important crops as tomatoes.
You can find a lot of fertilizers that allow you to grow, as gardeners say, "strong and plump" seedlings. But experience suggests that it is enough to use snow. Someone has probably already heard about this sowing method.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, told how to sow tomatoes in the snow.
Nothing new, since petunia and lobelia seeds have long been sown for seedlings in a similar way.
In the case of tomatoes, snow replaces stratification and hardens the seedlings.
In addition, melt water makes its contribution to the future harvest. Thanks to it, shoots appear faster and the immunity of sprouts is strengthened.
1. First, soak the seeds in a glass of water in which you need to dissolve a teaspoon of salt. The seeds that float to the surface should be thrown away, and those that settle to the bottom should be used for sowing.
2. Then you need to soak the seeds in a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution for 20 minutes, then rinse in water.
3. Dissolve boric acid (on the tip of a knife) in a glass of hot water and soak the seeds in this solution for an hour, but do not completely immerse them in the solution.
4. Sow the seeds in a suitable container with soil and drainage holes at a distance of 1.5-2 centimeters from each other, sprinkle with a 1 cm layer of soil and do not water.
5. Cover the soil with snow, cover the container with film, and place it in a cool place until it melts.
6. After the snow has completely melted, place the container in a warm place with an air temperature of 25-28 degrees.
Summer residents claim that the effect of sowing tomatoes in the snow is simply amazing.
