Some varieties of pears that can be found in garden plots grow very quickly.
Sometimes such shoots simply do not have time to become woody, and under the influence of the force of growth, the branches can twist, says Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication BelNovosti, an agronomist, and a landscape designer.
This phenomenon should not be considered as a problem, but as a feature of these varieties.
It is present, for example, in the pear variety “Kudesnitsa”, whose long branches have a “habit” of curling up.
If you are concerned about this situation, you can direct the branches in the desired direction without shortening them too much, as this can provoke the growth of unwanted water sprouts.
It is better to slightly trim the top of such long branches, direct them to the desired position and fix them.
After a year, they will be covered with shoots with flower buds, which are also called fruit buds.
If there are too many of these branches and they grow too densely, the excess can be cut into a ring and the cut area can be treated with a special compound.
