Some gardeners do not forget about plants and beds even in winter and stock up on various recipes that they plan to use in the next season.

One of such life hacks related to tangerine peels was shared by the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .

Instead of throwing away valuable raw materials, over the winter, accumulate more citrus peelings that can be used to benefit plants.

Thus, the peels removed from tangerines can be used when growing seedlings, including them in the soil mixture.

The zest contains pectin, which swells when in contact with a moist environment.

In this way, the tangerine peel will absorb excess moisture from the soil and return it to the plants as needed.

When the snow melts from the beds, you can add crushed tangerine peel to the planting holes, trenches or into the beds under digging.

To ensure that citrus peelings wait for their time without any problems, they should be dried, after being treated with biological preparations, for example, “Metarizin”.

Earlier, the expert shared the reasons why it is worth growing sage in your garden.
