Gladioli are loved by many owners of their own plots for their unusual coloring, petal shape, and flower size, which “in combination” creates incredibly beautiful flowers.

If you want to decorate your flowerbeds with gladioli, listen to the advice of the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , who told how to choose the bulbs of these plants.

So, according to the specialist, it is better to go to nurseries for planting material, having first read the reviews about them.

When choosing bulbs, make sure that they are free of spots, growths and other defects.

It is very important that the bulbs are not over-dried, but their size is not so important: specimens with a diameter of about 2 cm can produce magnificent flowering in the future.

Look closely at the bottom of the gladiolus bulb – it should not be concave. This sign indicates that you have old planting material in front of you.

If you buy bulbs in a package, be sure to "weigh" it in your hand. A bag with too light contents should raise your doubts. It contains very overdried bulbs.

Finally, let us remind you: the time for planting gladioli comes when the birch leaves are blooming. The planting depth is about 10-15 cm. If you notice thrips, change the planting location, but not to one that is in the shade.
