You might not realize it, but the salt used to sprinkle on icy roads can cause significant damage to your garden.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication BelNovosti, an agronomist and landscape designer, spoke in more detail about the threat.

The harm of road salt, which many summer residents use to sprinkle the area around their plot, lies in its composition.

This product is made up of over 90% anti-caking agent called hydrogen chloride.

It becomes an obstacle in the path of water reaching the roots of plants.

As a result, you may experience consequences such as decreased germination, wilting of flower buds, discoloration and falling of leaves, dying of branches, and subsequently the death of the plant.

Here are the reasons why you should avoid using such a composition on your property.

But you don’t have to put up with icy conditions – replace salt with environmentally friendly products, such as sand or gravel.
