Violets are considered one of the most delicate plants on the windowsill. Flowers are demanding of light, humidity and neighborhood.
Florists value their rich green velvety leaves and lush flowering. To ensure this happens, you need to properly care for the plant. Including watering it correctly.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, told how to properly water violets.
During the winter period, it is difficult to adhere to any clear schedule for watering flowers if you do not know the signs that indicate this need.
Firstly, if there is water in the flowerpot tray (violets do not tolerate over-watering - fungus will start to grow, they will get sick, and the roots will start to rot);
secondly, if the soil in the pot is dark or black in color and also clumps well;
thirdly, if the leaves and flowers of the violet are elastic.
There are no exact recommendations, and each case must be considered individual.
1. You can water if the soil in the pot is light, has become loose or, conversely, hard.
2. If the soil is dry at a depth of more than 1.5-2 cm.
3. If leaves or flower petals begin to wilt, but this can also happen due to high temperatures, diseases and parasites.
You can decide whether you need to water your violet only by assessing the temperature and humidity of the air, as well as the level of lighting.
