Many gardeners, especially those who are ardent supporters of organic farming, hold eggshells in high esteem.

An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh shared her thoughts on whether this additive is needed in the garden.

Thus, the shells left over from chicken or any other eggs can really serve a good purpose in the fight against pests such as slugs.

But if you are planning to use it as a fertilizer, you should think carefully before you begin to implement your plans.

The specialist is sure that a much simpler solution would be to buy a ready-made nutritional composition that contains calcium.

Just think about it – you’ll have to work hard to collect the shells, then grind them, then soak them…

And as a result, it may turn out that the resulting solution will contain a sufficient amount of useful substances.

Well, eggshells are also hardly suitable as containers for seedlings - they are too small and inconvenient.
