Ornamental grasses have recently been at the peak of popularity, which can be explained by their very attractive appearance. No joke: there are more than 200 varieties of such plants, so everyone can choose a living "decor" to their taste.
But not everyone, according to the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , knows about the rules of propagation of such plants.
In order not to miss the opportunity to make your plot even more beautiful by planting wonderful perennials on it, use the recommendations from this article.
First of all, the plant, which goes without saying, should be dug up. Don't be afraid to cut the main root - the root system of cereals is fibrous, which means that there is no taproot.
Now take garden shears (a sharp knife will do) and divide the rhizome into two parts.
The division will be suitable for propagation if it contains 7-10 bunches of leaves.
Don't forget to prepare the area where you plan to plant the plant. It needs to be dug up and fertilized in advance.
Please note that a certain distance should be left between the seedlings. Its size is directly related to the selected variety.
For example, if you have a large plant like Miscanthus sinensis, keep a distance of 50-60 cm (minimum), while between low-growing signs, such as fescue, an empty space of 30 cm is enough.
