An abundance of precipitation does not always have a positive effect on the condition of fruit crops.
Perhaps one of the most striking examples is strawberries: excess moisture causes the fruit to become watery.
In such a situation, the process of rotting cannot be ruled out. And at the time of harvesting, such berries can become "mush".
An expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh told how to save garden strawberries in the event that rains turned out to be a very frequent occurrence.
It is necessary to use a remedy that will help replenish the calcium deficiency.
It is thanks to this microelement that the berries will acquire greater density, as well as protection from diseases. The fruits will lose their wateriness and become very sweet.
The ideal fertilizer for strawberries during the rainy season is calcium nitrate. Or rather, a solution prepared on the basis of this fertilizer: no more than 10 grams of the product per liter of clean water.
It is enough to pour the resulting liquid over the strawberry bushes - and the plant will be saved. For 10 square meters of the plot, you need to use no more than one and a half liters of solution.
Summer residents who do not want to use "chemistry" can simply sprinkle the soil under the fruit crop with a substance such as bone meal. But there is a problem: this organic fertilizer will not "work" right away.
