Many summer residents practice winter sowing of carrots, and they have a number of good reasons for this.

The advantages of such sowing of orange root crops were shared by the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .

Firstly, by sowing carrots in the winter, plant growers free up “deficit” time for themselves in the spring.

Secondly, if you sow carrots in the fall, the vegetable will reach food maturity in the first half of June.

This way you can enjoy tasty and juicy carrots 15-20 days earlier than any early spring variety ripens.

Thirdly, thanks to the spring waters, which maintain constant soil moisture, you can be sure that the root crops will grow large, even and juicy.

Finally, and this will be fourth, in early spring there are a minimum number of pests operating in the garden, which means that the risk that they will attack the crops is reduced to a minimum.

Important: if you also decide to take advantage of the advantages of winter sowing of carrots, do not forget to increase the seeding rate by 20% (compared to traditional sowing). In addition, the seeds should be planted a little deeper - this point does not depend on the type of soil in the garden.
