An evergreen deciduous plant can roll up its leaves in winter and press them against its shoots to protect them from frost. It also slows down its metabolic processes in winter.
But without human help, such plants have a hard time – the threat lies not so much in the frost as in the winter sun, which can cause burns.
Therefore, it is in the interests of the summer resident to cover evergreen plants with breathable materials, for example, spunbond and agrofibre.
