08.11.2023 18:42

Beds for growing tomatoes should be prepared in the fall. Advance preparation allows you to fully prepare the soil.

Preparation involves cleaning (disinfection if necessary) and fertilization.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, told how to prepare the soil for planting tomatoes.

Act One

Disinfection is carried out if the cultivated garden crops are diseased.

But in addition to infection and fungi, it would be a good idea to treat the soil against pests.

For this purpose, fungicides, insecticides or biological preparations are used.

If weather conditions do not allow such treatment, then the only option left is to use mustard.

The seeds will survive the winter, the shoots will appear in early spring, and the summer resident will only have to mow them down and plant them in the soil.

An alternative method of treatment is to add mustard powder during digging.

Act II

Phosphorus and potassium are also added during digging, but it is easier to buy a complex autumn fertilizer.

Organic matter added includes cow manure and wood ash, after which the soil is dug up.

In autumn you can use fresh manure, and in spring only rotted manure.
