What experienced gardeners add to the soil before planting garlic in the fall: you won't be overjoyed with the harvest
Growing vegetables, including garlic, is not as easy a task as it may seem at first glance.
An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh advises to definitely add fertilizer to the soil - this, according to her, will help you avoid poor germination, ensure healthy growth and development of the crop.
Traditionally, beds set aside for garlic are filled in the fall as follows:
- 10 kg of humus (can be replaced with compost);
- 40-50 g of superphosphate;
- 25-30 g potassium sulfate;
- 2 cups of wood ash.
This amount should be enough for a plot of land with an area of one square meter.
However, before you start applying fertilizers, the beds need to be prepared.
One of the simple "operations" that site preparation includes is the removal of weeds and other vegetation.
In addition, you need to do preventive soil cultivation. For this, you will need mineral fertilizers to provide the crop with nutrients, and organic matter, which is needed to improve the soil structure.
