Any seasoned gardener knows that fallen fruit, that is, fruit that has fallen from a tree to the ground, is not suitable for storage.
However, for new gardeners, this “wastefulness” may seem questionable: why should fallen apples and pears be thrown away or recycled?
The whole point is, firstly, that the fruits had their own reasons for falling from the tree, and these are most often diseases.
But even if they were pushed to such “behavior” by rain and wind, having fallen to the ground, they “picked up” various spores of fungal diseases, and this is already second.
Due to the infection that has occurred, even those fruits that look quite presentable will soon begin to rot.
Therefore, fruits that have a “decent” appearance should be used for making jam, preserves or compote.
Eventually, you can eat them raw.
But only those fruits that were carefully removed from the tree and do not have any damage should be sent for storage.
