The potatoes in the garden have long been dug up - some were lucky, and their harvest consists of large and healthy tubers, while others, less fortunate, are content with smaller vegetables.
But in both cases, additional work is required to ensure that the potatoes are preserved without problems until the next season.
The first step is drying, which must be done after you remove the tubers from the ground.
Please note: you cannot leave potatoes to dry in direct sunlight - the tubers will start to turn green due to the production of solanine and will become unfit for consumption.
According to all the rules, drying should be carried out in a well-ventilated dark room.
After this, you can start sorting, dividing the entire harvest into large, medium and small tubers.
At the same time, set aside those specimens on which damage was noticed, as well as tubers that you plan to use for planting next year.
Now you can safely send the potatoes for storage in the cellar, which by this time should already be dried and disinfected.
