Once the (hopefully) impressive apple harvest has been collected, you will need to take care of your apple trees if you want to continue to get beautiful and tasty fruits in large quantities.

An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh spoke about how to do this correctly.

First of all, remove any remaining harvest debris, including damaged and rotten fruit, broken branches and fallen leaves.

To improve soil quality such as fertility, use organic compost, spreading it in a thin layer in the tree trunk circle - this way you will not only nourish the plant, but also prevent active evaporation of moisture.

Unfortunately, compost alone is not enough – you will also need mineral or organic fertilizers.

Even after picking apples, continue to water the trees growing in the garden, especially if it is a dry period. However, you should not use too much water.

Autumn is also a good time to prune your apple tree, which involves removing damaged, diseased, and overlapping branches.

Finally, the last step that cannot be ignored is protection against diseases and pests using preparations specially developed for this purpose.
