Should you pick off geranium leaves: what to do with yellowed leaves

Each leaf of the beloved pelargonium has its own specific life span, after which it first turns yellow and then dries up.

If a leaf starts to turn yellow, there is no choice: since it cannot be brought back to life, it should be torn off.

The leaves should be removed with extreme care.

To perform this “operation” you do not need any additional tools; you will have to do it with your own hands.

It is important to remember that even the most lifeless looking leaves still cling tenaciously to the geranium stem.

Another important note: even if there is not a single green leaf left on the flower, all yellow, do not remove them all at once. This is fraught with serious stress for the plant.

Instead, "de-leaf" about 3-4 times per season.

Thanks to such simple manipulations, the pelargonium will delight you with lush flowering, because it will no longer have to waste its energy on old leaves.
