Plants Near Grapes: What Can and Cannot Be Growed
Grape plantings can often be found in summer cottages. All the fruits are not only sweet and tasty, but are also often used in making compotes, desserts, and sometimes in making homemade wine.
But there are plants that cannot be left under this crop, otherwise you can forget about an excellent harvest. For example, some ornamental crops and weeds will hinder the normal growth and development of the vine. Therefore, it is better to transplant calendula and thyme.
Peppers, potatoes, tomatoes, corn and lettuce should not be grown near grapes. They simply will not be able to grow under grapes, they will start to oppress them.
Weeds, which also harm the crop, should be removed in time. But celandine and alfalfa can be left. The point is that they can protect the grapes from diseases.
But what else can be planted next to the vine?
As experts note, a normal harvest will be if you choose radish, dill, sorrel, beetroot, peas or horseradish. It is worth paying attention to Swiss chard.
As for trees, you can choose pear, cherry or sweet cherry for such a neighborhood. But it is important to ensure that the crown does not obscure the grapes.
