Onions do not like all fertilizers - the result is a loose and small onion that does not store well.

The wrong choice of fertilizer can cause the onion to become scaly and dry.

Let's look at the fertilizers that onions don't like for one reason or another.

First of all, you should refrain from using nitrogen fertilizers, despite the fact that it needs them.

It still needs potassium, nitrogen and phosphorus in a ratio of 16:6:14 during the growing season and 10:20:20 in mid-growing season.

As for organic matter, it is recommended to use it only in preparation for autumn – it is not allowed to feed during the growing season.

The use of ammonia is also prohibited, since it is simply an amide form of nitrogen, which is transformed into ammonia and nitrate.

You should not use yeast or nettle tea to fertilize onions, and also do not overdo it with phosphorus, since if you exceed the dose, the onion will simply lose its taste.
