How to increase the size of onions and garlic: an old trick for the garden
It is difficult to find a plot of land where there is no bed intended for onions and garlic.
Since both of these crops are in high demand in the kitchen, it is not surprising that thrifty gardeners strive to make a stock not from purchased, but from home-grown vegetables.
But this is not always possible - sometimes the onions and garlic are small and unsightly in appearance.
There are many reasons for this, and one of them is that the soil is not loose enough.
The result of growing in “heavy” soil is an insufficient amount of air that root crops receive.
Hence the conclusion: in order to get a decent harvest, you need to provide the plantings with air.
This can be done using a regular wooden stick, thinner than a shovel handle, with a pointed end.
When the first shoots appear from the ground, make a hole 7-10 cm deep at a distance of 10-15 cm from the greenery. As a result, you will get an aeration hole, which will saturate the crop with the oxygen it needs.
